Ideas for brief

Given the option I have chosen to produce the newspaper for my A2 production work. I chose to create the newspaper as I feel that I already have skills for the programmes used to create one. I have used inDesign, where I created a practise newspaper last year, which has given me an idea into what I am going to be using and how it works to create a professional looking piece of work. I have also used photoshop regularly, which will be a key skill to creating a newspaper.
I made a short film earlier this term, and although I enjoyed the making of it, I feel that it wasn't very successful. I think that my idea of the film was good but the time keeping and editing wasn't very good, therefore I think that
I would be able to be more successful making a newspaper as I feel I have better skills at doing this.

I have recently looked at my local newspaper called 'The Bromley Times', I looked at the conventions used to give me ideas for my newspaper. The front page was similar to the conventions of major newspapers, it had the logo at the top left corner, with a plug underneath and then the main headline story. Both of the pages I looked at had the structure of five columns, they both contained a lot of information which was crammed in, along with many adverts aimed at the target audience. From looking at all the conventions I could tell that the target audience age was middle class, for example, one of the adverts was advertising a dancing school for young children, so the reader could send their own children there.
For my own newspaper I want to create a newspaper with similar conventions to this, however I think that there is a gap in the market for newspapers targeting younger people.
